Puppy Sling Bag

Puppy Sling Bag

Pattern adapted from Milla Milla’s “Dog Carry Bag”

  • Exterior fabric: Seemakrish 1105/E Worli / Kesar Orange (from a drapery panel sample

  • Lining: Rifle Paper Co. Primavera Rosa Cotton / Blush

  • Interfacing

  • Leash clip

Notes

Sewed some scraps of lining fabric together; pattern doesn’t match up perfectly

Interfacing was from an espadrille shoe-making kit

Too difficult to determine which size leash clip I would need to purchase from Amazon and I only needed one clip, so I bought an $8 leash and removed the clip from the leash

Exterior fabric has embroidery - zig-zag stitch was used on all edges to try and prevent fraying

I think I stitched elastic to one end of the bag and then used a safety pin attached to the other end of the elastic to push it through the “tube” of fabric on the bag. I also used binder clips as I went to try and hold the elastic in place until I was able to secure the other end of it. This part was a bit difficult.

I used interfacing and two layers of fabric to create more structure and I’m hoping that the bag will last a bit longer and can support the weight of our puppy as he grows. Most sling bags online have a weight limit of 12 - 15 lbs, so hopefully this bag will be a bit stronger. Our puppy weighed about 13lbs. at 9 weeks.
